William Ray Hinerman

1962 – 2026

“God called home a man who turned life into music. Now Heaven has his songs, and we keep his memory.”

William “Bill” Hinerman was a man of remarkable accomplishments, adventure, service, and music. Beginning his career as an underwater welder, he later attended college and law school, becoming an attorney. He proudly served his country as a Navy Commander in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps and went on to serve as an FBI Unit Chief. Beyond his distinguished professional career, Bill was a gifted musician and an avid world traveler whose curiosity and passion for life inspired everyone who knew him. Bill enjoyed traveling the world and fulfilling his lifelong dream of visiting all seven continents. A talented musician, he found great joy in playing the guitar, bass, and mandolin, sharing his love of music with family, friends, and audiences throughout his life. The memories of our beloved brother, uncle, great-uncle, partner, and friend will bring both smiles and tears until the day we meet him again. Bill is survived by his sisters, Jackie (Ken) Cunningham and Becky Hinerman; his brother, Robert Jay (Karen) Hinerman; his devoted life partner of the last few years, Laura Ramirez-Drain; and the nieces and nephews who thought the world of their Uncle Bill: Beau Martin, Justin Hinerman, Amanda Creede, Taylor (Katey) Zink, Callie Poling, and Kobe Poling. He is also survived by his great-nieces and great-nephews: Annie, Jack, and Jordyn Martin; Silas and Macy Creede; and Autumn and Benton Zink. Family and friends were received on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue. Military honors and graveside services followed at Riverview Cemetery, 1854 Round Bottom Hill Road, Moundsville, WV 26041. Though he is no longer with us, Bill’s music, adventurous spirit, service to his country, and love for those around him will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
